Bamboo sheets are not bamboo in the sense that a floorboard is oak. The plant is pulped and chemically regenerated into viscose, and what you sleep on is a manufactured cellulose fibre — which is why every honest listing, including this one, says “viscose derived from bamboo”. What the fibre does is genuine enough: it moves heat and moisture away faster than cotton of the same weight, and it feels closer to silk than to percale. Is this the same as silk?
No. Silk is protein fibre from a silkworm; this is cellulose from bamboo pulp. The hand is similar and the price is not — and unlike silk, this goes in a domestic washing machine on cold without a specialist bag.
How deep a mattress will the fitted sheet clear?
The Full fitted sheet is cut at 54x75 inches with elastic all round. Check the pocket depth stated on the size you order against your own mattress including any topper, because a viscose fitted sheet that is fighting for grip will pop a corner in the night.
Does it wrinkle?
Some, and more than polyester. Twill hides it better than sateen does. Taking the set out of the dryer while it is still very slightly damp and putting it straight on the bed deals with almost all of it.
