Measure the mattress before you buy fitted sheets

Fitted sheets that slip loose overnight usually do so because the pocket depth was chosen on nominal size rather than real mattress height. Modern mattresses, especially those paired with toppers or extra padding, require a precise measurement of the full vertical edge before buying any bedding set.

Why sheet corners slip off

Standard bed widths and lengths rarely change, but mattress depth varies significantly across manufacturers. A corner pops off when the fitted sheet has enough surface area across the top but lacks the pocket depth needed to wrap securely beneath the underside.
